Feeling Off This Month? Same. Here’s What’s Helping Me Reset
If May has felt like a hot mess of emotions, weather drama, and missed routines… same, friend.
This month has been full of big life transitions, my daughter graduated college, moved to Atlanta, and started her first real job. And while it was a joyful milestone, it also came with a lot of feelings. Letting go of the college phase has been unexpectedly emotional, and seeing her drive off into Atlanta traffic made me feel all kinds of mom things.
We are proud parents of an Auburn graduate!
Then, almost immediately after that, I flew to D.C. to visit my son who just moved there for a new job on Capitol Hill. (Yes, I might be a little bit of a hover mom, but I just need to visualize their lives… it brings me peace.)
The view from my son’s office balcony!
Add to that the dreary weather back in Illinois, tornado warnings, allergies, Airbnb maintenance, and a to-do list a mile long… it’s been a lot. I’ve barely played pickleball or golf, and my usual rhythm feels completely off.
BUT HERE’S THE THING:
Even in this funk, I’ve kept showing up. Not perfectly, but consistently. And I want to remind you of this:
👉 Discipline > motivation.
👉 Routines > resolutions.
👉 Progress > perfection.
I don’t always feel like working out or meal prepping. But I do it because it’s a habit. It’s like brushing my teeth. That’s what midlife wellness is about… making it automatic, even in messy seasons.
So if you’ve been in a weird space lately, I see you. And you’re not alone.
Now is the time to shake off the “all or nothing” mentality and just take one step. Literally! Go for a walk. Stretch. Lift something. Do something that reminds you who you are.
Because we’re not quitting on ourselves.
Not today. Not in May. Not ever.
