What I’ve Been Wearing on the Golf Course (While Riding the Struggle Bus)

Let me just say this upfront.

I am not writing this as a scratch golfer.

I am writing this as a woman who has questioned her sanity mid-round, developed the worst tan lines of her life, and still willingly signs up to do it again.

Why?

Because even when my scorecard is questionable, the experience is not.

I get outside.
I walk.
I laugh.
I compete a little.
I spend time with my husband.
I spend time with girlfriends.

And honestly… I am very much here for the outfits.

If I’m going to double (or triple) bogey, I’m at least going to look cute doing it.

So here’s what I’ve been wearing lately on the course.

1. The Long Sleeve Top I’m Obsessed With

Ok this long sleeve golf shirt is my newest favorite. It’s thin, but just what you need on a day when there is a little chill in the air. The length is perfect to tuck in or not.

2. Skorts + Sleeveless Collared Tops

This is my most worn combo.

A flattering skort that doesn’t ride up and a sleeveless collared top that feels sporty but feminine.

I love:
• Stretchy waistbands
• Slight A-line shape
• Tops that skim instead of squeeze
• Moisture-wicking fabric

The reality is, midlife bodies change. I want clothes that move with me, not against me.

And yes, I have accepted that my golfer’s tan is now a personality trait.

3. Hats. So Many Hats.

Listen.

The sun is aggressive.

And the tan lines are already tragic.

I rotate between:
• Wide brim hats for super bright days.
• Classic baseball caps for windy days.

Sun protection is a must… but these hats also keep my hair from flying around. :)
But also… cute sun protection is non-negotiable.

Last year I discovered Wallaroo Hats. I’m obsessed with the ones that allow a space for my pony tail! Check out the Victoria cap and the Gabi! https://www.wallroohats.com

4. Cute and Comfy Golf Shoes

Ok. These are not cheap. But my gosh are they the best golf shoes everrrr. If you go to a golf course I bet you will recognize almost every woman wearing G-FORE’s. They are legit the most comfortable shoe in the biz. I suggest sizing up at least 1/2 size because they do run small. Thankfully they have great customer service, so if you need to exchange it’s no sweat.

5. The Layer I Always Bring

Morning tee times are deceptive.

It feels cool. You bring a layer.
By hole 5 you’re questioning every life choice.

But I always bring a light quarter zip. This one from Rhoback is my favorite. By the way, get your man one, too! He will love it!

The Real Reason I Keep Showing Up

Here’s the truth.

Golf will test your patience.
It will test your ego.
It will test your ability to not spiral after one bad hole. (speaking from experience!)

It will absolutely test your mindset.

But it also gives you:

• Hours outside
• Focus without screens
• Fun stories to tell later
• Conversation without distraction

In midlife, I am less interested in perfection and more interested in presence.

Some days I play well.
Some days I am fully on the struggle bus.

But I’m outside.
I’m moving.
I’m laughing.
I’m with people I love.

And I look cute doing it.

So I’ll take the bad tan lines. I’ll take the high scorecard. And I’ll keep showing up.
